Araújo: Too early to talk about a permanent move, but I feel happy and valued at Liverpool

Ronald Araújo is enjoying life at Anfield, but he isn’t getting ahead of himself. The Uruguayan defender, currently on loan at Liverpool, told a press conference that it’s still too early to talk about a permanent deal, even though reports increasingly suggest the club will trigger the €55 million purchase option.
Araújo said his focus is on enjoying each day and continuing to develop and build confidence. He added that both he and his family are very happy in the city, where he has been struck by how passionately people live their football, something he notices even when walking through the city center or going out to eat. He also thanked the fans for their support, saying it’s special for a player to feel that kind of appreciation.
So far, Araújo has played more often at right-back than in his preferred central defensive role. He insisted that this isn’t a problem, explaining that he has played there before and knew it was a possibility when he decided to join. “I won’t hide that I feel more comfortable as a center-back,” he admitted, but said he always gives his best wherever the coach needs him.
