Pellegrini says he’s ready to start against Slovan Bratislava

Lorenzo Pellegrini could play a key role for Roma against Slovan Bratislava. The attacking midfielder came on as a substitute in the league win over Genoa and is now in line for a starting spot against the Slovak side.

At his pre-match press conference, Pellegrini said he feels very good and completely calm mentally, while still working hard to build up his fitness. He explained that his long absence meant he needed time to get back up to speed, and admitted that at first he wasn’t at the level of teammates who had been training more intensively. “I’m happy and completely calm,” he said, adding that there is still room to improve physically.

The Italian also praised the squad as an exceptional group that works hard during the week and raises its level on matchdays, when the results count. Asked about his one-year contract extension, Pellegrini said it was a decision made together with the club, and one he was happy to accept.
