Tottenham have finally found their way back to winning. In the seventh round, the Londoners got past Coventry 3-1 and put an end to a run of six league matches without a victory.

The comeback story of the day was James Maddison, making his first league start in 536 days. The midfielder marked it in the best possible way: in the 14th minute, he received a pass from Mohammed Kudus on the edge of the box and unleashed a superb long-range strike. Dominic Solanke also scored shortly afterward, but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Coventry equalized in the 50th minute, when Jack Rudoni won back the ball after his own overhit cross and beat Antonín Kinský. The equalizer lasted only nine minutes, though: Omar Marmoush shook off a defender at the edge of the area, turned and restored Tottenham’s lead with a powerful shot.

Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth delayed the outcome with a save from Matheus Fernandes, but in stoppage time Ben Davies sealed the final score after a pass from Solanke. With six points, Tottenham climb to 16th place, while Coventry, on the same tally, drop to 17th.
